ASHEBORO — Sam Ramsey, longtime local Chick-fil-A franchise owner, has announced the reinvestment of more than $1 million in the Asheboro Mall location.
That means the location will be closed until renovations are complete, estimated to last 8 to 12 weeks.
“We will close the Mall location at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2026, to begin the brand new upgraded kitchen renovation,” he said in a press release.
The release continues:
“We opened the restaurant in September of 1988 and it has grown in sales every year it has been opened. The success of our Asheboro Mall location has been such that our kitchen just cannot produce the volume of delicious Chick-fil-A products the community wants. We are pleased that Chick-fil-A recognized the need and committed to the expansion of our kitchen. This upgrade will allow my amazing staff to produce even more Chick-fil-A chicken.
“Speaking of our amazing staff, all of our staff will be paid during this closure by helping at our Dixie Drive store and other activities during the renovation process. Many of the staff have been with me for decades and some, like Miss Alice, ever since opening day back in 1988.
“With the Hull Property Group’s renovation of our Asheboro Mall a few years back, we have been blessed with a new vigor and excitement to grow this Mall business. We first invested in that renewed excitement with the addition of our curbside delivery option. This has been a huge success; however, our limited cooking capacity made the wait longer than we would like. This million dollar investment, we feel, will speed up that curbside service as well as our dine-in service.
“We realize that this renovation and temporary closure will be an inconvenience as well as cause our other location to become even more busy and congested.”
Ramsey is hoping everyone will be understanding of the traffic difficulty at the Dixie Drive location during this time.
