ASHEBORO — Many young basketball players dream of playing under the bright lights of a college arena. Randolph EMC is helping make that dream a reality for two lucky students by once again partnering with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and NC State University.
Through the Cooperative All-Stars Sports Camp Scholarship program, students may apply to one of two opportunities:
■ Randolph EMC will choose one young woman to attend the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp at NC State University on June 14 through 17.
■ REMC will select one young man to attend the Carolina Basketball School on June 27 through 30 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The scholarships cover all expenses at the overnight camps, which provide a glimpse into life on a college campus.
At night, campers stay overnight in dormitory housing. During the day, they receive individual and group instruction from Division 1 coaches to enhance their basketball and team-building abilities.
All campers gain fundamental skills to help them excel on and off the court.
To apply, students must complete and submit the online application by March 31. Eligible applicants must be in sixth or seventh grade during the 2026-27 school year.
“Basketball teaches more than what happens on the court. Through the Cooperative All-Stars Sports Camp, students gain valuable lessons in teamwork, discipline, leadership and perseverance — skills they’ll carry with them both on and off the court,” Randolph EMC Public Relations Manager Christian Morgan said. “We’re proud to partner with two top North Carolina universities to give our students an unforgettable, life-changing experience.”
More than 50 students will be awarded Cooperative All-Stars Sports Camp Scholarships from electric cooperatives in North Carolina.
Now in its 22nd year, the scholarship program demonstrates the electric cooperatives’ commitment to building a brighter future through continued support for education and community programs.
