Donate shoes, help third world ... and local Humane Society

The Humane Society of Randolph County (HSRC) is teaming up with Funds2Orgs, a social enterprise that assists in raising funds while contributing to a global cause by collecting shoes.

The process is simple yet impactful. Community members are encouraged to donate new and gently used shoes, which are then collected by HSRC with all provided materials at no out-of-pocket costs to the society. 

Funds2Orgs issues a check to HSRC based on the total volume of shoes collected. This funding will directly support the society's spay/neuter program, crucial for controlling the local pet population.

The fund-raiser began May 1 and runs through June 30.

After the shoes are collected, they are shipped to micro-entrepreneurs (small business owners) in developing countries. Those countries include Haiti, Honduras, Cambodia, Ghana and 22 others. The entrepreneurs sell the shoes in local markets, which helps them build a sustainable livelihood and rise out of poverty.                                        

HSRC has collection boxes at several locations in Asheboro, Randleman, Greensboro and Thomasville. The collection boxes are at the following locations:
