ASHEBORO — On Saturday, April 29, the City of Asheboro will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at the David & Pauline Jarrell Center City Garden on Cox Street.

The groundbreaking will take place at 10:30 a.m.

The event will serve as a time to tour the site and visit informational booths.  However, it will also serve as a community workday for those who want to help get the cleanup started.

Volunteers can help get the property ready for clearing by identifying and tagging invasive plants for removal.

Roads leading into the area will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to about 4 p.m. at three intersections:

- Worth Street and Cox Street.
- Cranford Street and South Fayetteville Street.

- East Academy Street and Cox Street.

Nearby parking will be available at the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce parking lot, at the Central Permitting building on the corner of Academy and Cox, and at the adjacent Central United Methodist Church on the corner of Academy and South Main streets.
