Lawrence Family Reunion: 50 years and counting

ASHEBORO — The Lawrence family centered in the Whynot area in Randolph County will hold its 50th consecutive family reunion on Sept. 24.

The first Lawrence family reunion was held on Sunday, Oct. 21, 1973, when descendants of the Reverend John S. and Annie (Covington) Lawrence gathered together at the Fairgrove Church in Whynot for the organizational meeting.

This year’s family reunion dinner will be held at the Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro on Saturday, Sept. 24. The last two reunions were held virtually via Zoom due to the COVID pandemic.
