On Nov. 21, a packed house attended the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours event at Pugh Funeral Home, and State Senator Dave Craven was on hand to present an official certificate from the NC Senate to Mac Pugh in honor of his 50 years of service to Pugh Funeral Home and to the community.
In addition to being the retired president/former owner of Pugh Funeral Home (which was founded in 1857 and has six locations in Randolph, Chatham and Montgomery counties), Pugh has served in many civic leadership roles over the years, including president of the Randolph-Asheboro YMCA, the Asheboro Rotary Club and the Asheboro Jaycees as well as board chair of Randolph Health and the Randolph County Economic Development Corporation.
He and his wife Ann are active members of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where he has served as senior warden of the vestry.
Also during the ceremonies, the naming of the “Mac Pugh Chapel” at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro was announced by Patrick Stover, General Manager of the Pugh Funeral Home group since 2023.
“I am very surprised and honored, and I want to thank everyone who has supported me and our business over the years, especially my family and our many dedicated employees," Pugh shared.
