RSAA’s Hensley retiring in June; search begins for successor

Jill Jackson
RSAA Director of Marketing & Community Engagement

ASHEBORO — The Randolph Senior Adults Association (RSAA) announced on Feb. 5 the retirement of Executive Director Mark Hensley, effective June 30, 2025.

Hensley made the announcement during the most recent Board of Directors Meeting, marking the end of an impactful nearly seven-year tenure at the helm of the organization.

Before taking on the role of executive director at the RSAA, Hensley retired as executive vice president at CommunityOne/Capital Bank, concluding a distinguished 38-year career in the banking industry. His extensive experience in financial management and leadership provided him with a strong foundation to effectively guide the RSAA in its mission to serve the senior community.

Since joining the RSAA in 2018, Hensley has demonstrated unwavering dedication to improving the lives of senior adults in Randolph County. His visionary leadership has led to the development of numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of seniors, addressing their unique challenge, and advocating for their needs. Under his guidance, the RSAA has made significant strides in becoming the trusted resource for the aging community, ensuring that senior adults have access to vital services and support.

Reflecting on his seven years at the helm of RSAA, Hensley recalls a particularly pivotal moment: The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“When the pandemic came to Randolph County and we were required to close our Senior Centers, we knew that we had to continue providing, at a minimum, the basic services needed for the well-being of our clients,” he said.

In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, RSAA implemented innovative solutions to ensure that seniors continued to receive essential services.

“Our daily hot meals were transformed into two-week supplies of frozen meals, allowing seniors to maintain their nutrition without interruption,” Hensley said.

“Additionally, the Regional Coordinated Area Transportation System (RCATS) demonstrated remarkable dedication by ensuring that transportation services continued without missing a single day during the pandemic. This commitment to service was crucial in helping seniors access necessary resources and maintain their independence during a time of uncertainty.”

“Hensley’s ability to pivot and embrace innovation during such a critical period exemplifies his dedication to enhancing the lives of senior adults and his commitment to the organization’s mission,” said Greg Patton, Chair of the RSAA Board of Directors. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mark for his exemplary service and leadership and wish him all the best in his retirement.”

As the RSAA prepares for an important transition, the Board of Directors is dedicated to selecting a new director who will honor and continue Hensley’s legacy of service and commitment to the senior community. To facilitate the process, the Board has established a Search Committee that is actively seeking a passionate leader to fill Hensley’s position.

The Search Committee is now accepting applications from candidates who are enthusiastic about enhancing the lives of senior adults.

To submit your application or for more information, visit the RSAA’s website at www.senioradults.org. For any questions, contact Teresa Loflin, Human Resources Director, at 336-625-3389 ext. 229, or via email at humanresources@senioradults.org.

“Serving as the executive director of the Randolph Senior Adults Association has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Hensley said. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated team. While I look forward to retirement, I am confident that the RSAA will continue to thrive and serve the senior community with the same passion and commitment.”

RSAA encourages community members and stakeholders to join in expressing their gratitude to Mark Hensley for his remarkable contributions and to celebrate his legacy in the months leading up to his retirement.
