RSVP Community Theatre and Director Jim Shover, Music Director Rick Morgan, and Choreographer Elizabeth Parry invite you to audition for Meredith Willson’s "The Music Man."
“The Music Man” follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band that he vows to organize – despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain's fall.
Auditions will be held Saturday May 6, 9 am to noon OR Monday, May 8, 7-9 pm, at Randolph Studios (the Hedrick Building), 154 S. Fayetteville Street, Upstairs - Suite J, Asheboro.
Men, women, and children age 8 and up, are needed. Come dressed to move – no sandals or flip-flops - and be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song (NOT from "The Music Man) that exhibits your vocal capabilities. Actors are asked to bring sheet music for a live accompanist OR have access to a device that will play a non-vocal backup track (don’t just sing along with a recording of someone else's performance recording). A cappella not recommended.
Performance dates are: July 28-30 and August 4-6 at Asheboro’s Sunset Theatre.
