ASHEBORO — Chaplain Bill Hatfield with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has been coordinating efforts to assist Keaton’s Place with a community service project.
The Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) is collecting plastic grocery bags that will be used to make mat beds for the homeless in our community.
Other county departments also wanted to be involved, so Randolph County Administration, Tax, IT, Finance, EMS, DSS and the Juvenile Day Reporting Center employees will be collecting bags also. Hatfield will be picking up the bags once a month and taking them to Keaton’s Place for assembly.
The Juvenile Day Reporting Center and the Randolph Senior Adults Association are planning to help with the assembly of the mats.
Drop-off locations are available to the public at both the Sheriff’s Office locations:
- 727 McDowell Rd. / first floor elevator lobby.
- 402 Balfour Dr., Archdale / substation.
Keaton’s Place has a need for people to help put the beds together and will provide training.
