Wreck snaps telephone pole on corner of Worth, Cox streets

If you’re planning on visiting the Asheboro Public Library today, the Randolph County Courthouse or do any business or travel that involves the Worth Street-Cox Street intersection, you may want to make alternate plans. Sometime before noon, two cars were involved in an accident that resulted in a snapped telephone pole. An older driver was extricated from her seat by emergency personnel, but was standing on her feet before she was placed on a gurney and taken to the hospital. The young female driver of the second car was shaken but walked with police to a nearby stoop to be interviewed about the accident. On top of accident cleanup, workers will be needed to stabilize the telephone pole and complete any work needed to unhook wires attached to it and make way for a new one, ado that corner could be out of commission for some time today.
