Authentic Unlimited returns to Troy this week after more IBMA awards

TROY — Bluegrass band Authentic Unlimited will be returning to Troy to entertain at the James Garner Center on Saturday, Oct. 18. The band just earned its third consecutive Vocal Group of the Year a the 2025 IBMA Awards in Chattanooga, TN.

Last year, AU was also awarded Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year

(“Fall in Tennessee”) and Mandolin Player of the Year (Jesse Brock).

“I am excited to have this award-winning group come back to Troy,” promoter Jeff Branch said. “This group is talented in so many ways and that’s why they are entertaining to watch.”

Though this powerhouse band only formed in 2022, members are no strangers to the bluegrass genre and have already made quite a name for themselves.

Following Doyle Lawson’s retirement, three members of his band — Eli Johnston (banjo), Stephen Burwell (fiddle) and Jerry Cole (bass) — decided to continue in a new configuration. With Lawson’s blessing and guidance, the trio petitioned mandolin extraordinaire Jesse Brock and newest and youngest member Colton Baker.

“The key to longevity for a band is creating a distinctive sound of music. Authentic Unlimited is doing just that and with the wealth of talent among these five men, they are destined for a bright future” Lawson said.

Recording for Nashville’s Billy Blue Records, Authentic Unlimited has released four albums, two secular and two gospel.

The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 for reserved seating, $25 at door, and $10 kids 6-12. Concessions will be provided by the Troy Lions Club.

For tickets or information, contact Jeff Branch at 704-985-6987 or jbranch205@gmail.com. The James Garner Center is located at 210 Burnette Street in Troy.
