ASHEBORO — The 2025 edition of the Willie E. Gladden Sr. Golf Classic will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, at Pinewood Country Club.
The annual event is a fund-raiser for the Russell Murphy Football Camp held free of charge for area youth. Entry fees for the golf classic are $125 per person or $250 per two-person team. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. the day of the tournament. A shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. for the two-person captain’s choice format.
Prizes will be awarded for first-place team, second place, third place, closest to the pin, putt-to-win challenge and longest drive.
The entry fee includes a golf cart, greens fees, drinks and lunch in the restaurant. Sponsorship packages are available, from $100 to $2,500.
The event honors the late Willie E. Gladden Sr., a golf enthusiast. His son, Willie Gladden Jr., is a founder of the Russell Murphy Football Camp in memory of the late Coach Murphy who was a mentor to many students of the Asheboro City Schools.
