Food Truck Championships in Randleman on Sept. 6
RANDLEMAN — Get your taste buds ready for another round of the North Carolina Food Truck State Championship in Randleman.
The 12th annual event will again be held in Randleman, this year on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Many food trucks will line the street in Downtown Randleman’s Commerce Square for not only foodies’ pleasure but for competition in a variety of categories with trophies, prize money and bragging rights on the line. Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m.
Farm fresh vendors open up that morning in the Timken Farmers Market, and then live music begins late morning and continues throughout the day. This year’s bands include:
■ 11 a.m. —Brothers King.
■ 1:30 p.m. — Bantum Rooster.
■ 4 p.m. — Big Time Shine Band.
■ 7 p.m. — Gump Fiction.
Admission is free, but food prices vary from truck to truck.

Final 2025 Sunday concert: Eric & the Chill Tones
ASHEBORO — Sunday, Sept. 7, marks the end of the Summer Concert Series in Asheboro for the summer of 2025.
The final guest will be a return band, Eric & the Chill Tones.
A recent winner of the Greensboro News & Record’s Reader’s Choice Awards for favorite local band, the group plays beach music and other favorites from various genres. It’s led by local weatherman Eric Chilton.
The Chill Tones will be on stage from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Bicentennial Park in downtown Asheboro. Bring your own chair or blanket for this outdoor event.
Admission is free. Food trucks will be on site.
Farmer Civitan breakfast open to community
FARMER — The Farmer Civitans will host their monthly breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 7 to 10 a.m. The theme is “Welcome Autumn” with hot biscuits, eggs, gravy (white and red-eye), buttered grits, Thomas Brothers sausage and center-cut ham, plus pancakes and beverages that include coffee, orange juice, sodas and cold bottled water. President Becky Greer’s husband George is donating 2 tickets for the High Point Rockers’ September baseball game.
This event is held at the Farmer Civitan Clubhouse at the intersection of Old Hwy #49 and Dunbar Bridge Road. A donation of $10 earns all you can eat. Donations are used for Civitan projects and community needs.
Sisyphus Saturday features music of Donna Hughes
TRINITY — Zimmerman Vineyards will be host to a Sisyphus Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sept. 6, featuring the music of Donna Hughes.
Admission is free for the local concerts on the terrace at the winery, located at 1428 Tabernacle Church Road. Wine can be purchased onsite as well as some food.
John Conlee visits Liberty Showcase on Sept. 6
LIBERTY — John Conlee will be the musical guest at Liberty Showcase Theater on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Tickets range from $43 to $59 online, including fees. They are available at https://www.thelibertyshowcase.com.
Between 1978 and 2004, Conlee charted a total of 32 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including seven No. 1 hits and 14 more in the Top Ten.
Showtime is 7 p.m. at the Liberty Showcase Theater, located at 101 S. Fayetteville St. in Liberty.
Library offers nature journaling workshop Sept. 9
ASHEBORO — Transform the way you see the world and yourself in a nature journaling workshop at the Asheboro Public Library.
Join Brittany Smith, an environmental educator with Flora and Fauna Festivities, LLC, for “Nature’s Narratives: Improving Your Life with Nature Journaling,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9.
More than just putting pen to paper, learn to find clarity, creativity and calm simply by slowing down and observing the natural world.
The workshop is designed for everyone from seasoned journalers to total beginners who want to cultivate a deeper relationship with nature.

Patriot Day Ceremony set for Thursday, Sept. 11
ASHEBORO — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is organizing a tribute to the heroes — living or fallen — from the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
Dubbed “Patriot Day Ceremony,” it will be held at the sheriff’s office, 727 McDowell Road, Asheboro, on Thursday, Sept. 11, beginning at 1 p.m.
Dr. Bob Shackleford, former president of Randolph Community College, will serve as guest speaker. The focus will be on those who helped and survived during the unfathomable time and those who are still suffering as a result of the day’s events.
Victory Junction’s annual Run to Victory Sept. 13
RANDLEMAN — Victory Junction will host its annual Run to Victory on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 a.m. on the camp’s grounds, inviting runners, walkers, rollers and strollers to help fuel life-changing camp experiences for children living with complex medical and physical needs.
