A tradition in Troy continues!
Little Roy Lewis has been providing musical entertainment and laughter annually in Montgomery County for more than six decades! And he will do it again this Saturday, Feb. 17, when the Little Roy & Lizzy Show performs at the James Garner Center in Troy.
“I started coming with my family in 1963,” recalled the banjo/guitar/auto-harp playing pint-sized singer and comedian.
Promoter Jeff Branch is happy to see the Lincolnton, Georgia, group return.
“I'm looking forward to having Little Roy & Lizzy back in Troy. Little Roy has performed in Montgomery County for over 60 plus years and it's an annual tradition for him to make his way back to the area,” he said. “I promise you are in for an entertaining show when Little Roy hits the stage.”
Their high energy show features an evening of fast-paced bluegrass and gospel music with tight harmonies and intervals of side-slapping humor.
Even at age 82, Little Roy hasn’t slowed down. He still hops around the stage, playing multiple instruments, telling jokes, donning crazy costumes and being the ultimate entertainer.
Lizzy Long joins in playing a variety of instruments, singing original tunes and keeping tabs on Little Roy.
They are backed by a full band of talented musicians assembled from across the United States: Two brothers from California play guitar and mandolin, a fiddler from Tennessee and a bassist from Minnesota. It is an ensemble aiming to delight the whole family.
Sponsored by the Troy Lions Club, concessions by its members will be available. The show starts at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17. Tickets are $20 for reserved seating. $15 for general admission.
