Local artist to hold annual open house on Nov. 2

FRANKLINVILLE — Louis Brady, long-time local artist, will hold his annual open house this Saturday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Brady’s studio is located at 3642 Hardin Ellison Road, Franklinville, just off NC 22 North.

After taking an art course by correspondence while still in high school, Brady began painting signs for Coca-Cola beginning in 1964. He started his own business in 1972 and has continued painting signs and doing art work ever since.

Some of the Coca-Cola signs he painted or repainted are still on display. He’s even done Coke signs on commission in recent weeks.

During his open house, Brady will have his artwork, including drawings and paintings, on display and for sale.

Brady is one of the few who can boast of being one of “Roy’s Folks.” The series of interviews of people in the Piedmont who do interesting things was made popular by the late Roy Ackland of Fox8 in High Point. For a few years Brady had a booth at the Roy’s Folks Craft Fair at the former Oak Hollow Mall in High Point.

His paintings are available for purchase. Brady’s originals are one-of-a-kind pieces that are placed in hand-crafted frames with a neutral matte. His selection of prints, most limited editions, are signed and numbered.

Many of his works can be seen on his website, louisbrady.com.
