First three St. Pauls’s meetings will focus on the its history
RANDLEMAN — Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m. will be the first program for 2026 and it will be the first in a series of three programs that will focus on the history of St. Paul, which is a very interesting history. The first program will be presented by Don Farlow.
The first program will explain the roles of the Dicks and Korner families in the founding and interior painting of the second church building of St. Paul Methodist Episcopal Church South. (The first St. Paul was a small clapboard church built in 1855 on the same site.) As many would know, there was a strong Quaker legacy in the Dicks family, and the Moravian Korner family was also intertwined with Quakers.
The program will help you understand the role of Jule Korner in creating what is recognized today as the foremost example of historic decorative interior painting, certainly in a church, to be found anywhere. And, of course, it is this very painting that makes St. Paul such a historic building.
