ASHEBORO —The Randolph County Veterans Council invites the public to participate in local activities set out below in observance of Memorial Day 2024.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 22
From 5:30-6:30 p.m., the Veterans Council will be at American Legion Post 45, 419 Lanier Ave., Asheboro, distributing American flags to be placed on the graves of local veterans as part of OPERATION REMEMBRANCE. The goal of OPERATION REMEMBRANCE is to ensure that every veteran’s grave in Randolph County is marked by an American flag each year for Memorial Day and Veterans Day. There are more than 300 cemeteries in Randolph County, so the public’s help is needed to achieve that goal.
SATURDAY, MAY 25
At 9 a.m., local veterans organizations and volunteers from the public will place American flags on the graves of veterans at Randolph Memorial Park and at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro as part of OPERATION REMEMBRANCE.
MONDAY, MAY 27
At 4 p.m., the Veterans Council will sponsor a Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial, located by the Historic Randolph County Courthouse at 145 Worth St., Asheboro.
