Pair of events honor nation’s 250th birthday

ASHEBORO — As part of the ongoing commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, the Randolph County America 250 NC Committee invites the public to participate in two meaningful events that honor the legacy of our nation’s founding and those who have served in its defense.

Revolutionary War Patriots Plaque Dedication

Date: Saturday, Nov. 15 Time: 11 a.m.

Location: Colonel Andrew Balfour Cemetery, 2421 Doul Mountain Road, Asheboro.

The Col. Andrew Balfour Chapter, NSDAR invites the public to a special dedication ceremony honoring our Revolutionary Patriots.

To celebrate this historic milestone, a granite stone with commemorative marker featuring this America 250 NC plaque will be placed at the cemetery where Colonel Andrew Balfour, Revolutionary War patriot is buried. 

This local marker offers a lasting tribute and a place where historians, descendants and citizens can reflect on our shared history and keep the memory of the Revolutionary War alive for future generations.

Wreaths Across America Ceremony

Date: Saturday, Dec. 13 Time: 11 a.m.

Location: Oak Lawn Cemetery, 737 Albemarle Road, Asheboro.

On Dec. 13 at 11 a.m., Col. Andrew Balfour Chapter, NSDAR will be helping Oak Lawn Cemetery to Remember and Honor our veterans by laying Remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes.

Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring remembrance wreaths, volunteering on Wreaths Day, or inviting family and friends to attend with you.
