ASHEBORO — The Pilot Club of Asheboro will be honoring veterans with a luminary ceremony on Nov. 11, beginning at 4:30 p.m. following the Veterans Day parade. The event will be held at the Randolph County Historic Courthouse on Worth Street with luminaries lining the walkways in honor of or memory of military veterans.
Luminaries may be purchased by sending a $5 donation and the name, rank, branch of service of the person the luminary is in honor or memory of to:
Pilot Club of Asheboro
PO Box 3107
Asheboro NC 27204.
Also, there will be an opportunity to purchase luminaries between 3:30 and 4 p.m. on the day of the ceremony.
In addition, this year the Pilot Club will put a ticket for each luminary purchased in a drawing to win an Americana quilt made by one of the club members. Tickets can also be purchased at the Luminary Service for $1 or 6 for $5 by anyone wanting a chance to win the quilt. The winner will be drawn and contacted by phone in December. The drawing result will be on the Pilot Club’s Facebook page.
