ASHEBORO — The Randolph and Central School Association plans a Pre-Valentine Day Gala on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the George Washington Carver Community Enrichment Center, 950 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Asheboro. The semi-formal occasion will begin at 7 p.m.
Music will be provided by the Dudley High School Jazz Band. Tickets bought in advance are $25 for singles and $45 for couples. Tickets bought at the door will be $30/$55.
Tickets can be purchased from Bishop Harold Williams at 336-465-0553, Betty Baldwin at 336-625-5630 or Jonnie Mae Greene at 336-302-8521.
The public is invited to the pre-Valentine event. It’s also a reunion for those who attended school at Randolph High School in Liberty or Central High School in Asheboro, both of which were for blacks during segregation. Those schools were disbanded after integration.
Reunions of those students were held every other year until the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the first reunion since. The reunions typically include hospitality on Friday, banquet on Saturday and church on Sunday.
