The Prince (and RSVP) is giving a ball!

RSVP Community Theater is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” to kick off its 2026-27 season.

Performances will be at the Historic Sunset Theatre in downtown Asheboro July 24-26 and July 31-Aug. 2.

Fairy Godmother (Judy Deines) makes an appearance.

Based on the classic fairy tale audiences know and love with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, the Broadway version, featuring a Tony Award-winning book by Douglas Carter Beane, brings a fresh take on the story with all the charm and unforgettable music of the original musical.

This version adds witty new characters, unexpected plot twists and a story of empowerment that will delight audiences of all ages.

“Cinderella” is deftly brought to life by RSVP’s talented crew of local artists and performers. Artistic Director Steffanie Vaughan, Music Director Kathleen Hall Gee, Choreographer Elizabeth Steck and Pianist Lisa Johnson have been working with the amazing cast all summer to bring this wonderful story to life for the Asheboro stage.

Regarding the show, Vaughan says, “Many aspects of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella have changed throughout the years, but the underlying theme of the story has remained the same — goodness and kindness always triumph over thoughtlessness and cruelty.”

The show is brought to life by a group of RSVP veterans and newcomers alike. Ainsley Marlowe brings to life the titular Cinderella, and Carlos Pena plays the handsome Prince Topher.

Laurine Varner (Madame), Salem Morales (Gabrielle) and Emily Sanfilippo (Charlotte) play the members of Cinderella’s infamous stepfamily.

Dean Hiatt (Sebastian) and Connor Criscoe (Lord Pinkleton) head up the Prince’s court, and Landon Allmon (Jean-Michel) plays a poor but noble revolutionary.

And of course, it wouldn’t be Cinderella without her Fairy Godmother, played by Judy Deines.

A talented ensemble plays the various townspeople and assorted lords and ladies of the realm. The ensemble includes Kellan Auman, Jacey Beard, Star Brennan, Brian Campos, Alanna Cheek, Jasmine Hiatt, Janet Imrick, Kara Jones, Shannon Lowe, Renee Morgan, Abbey Parsons, Gretchen Phipps, Cooper Price, Carson Shutt, Jules Sparks, Nathan Stilin, Ethan Talley, Aleah Wallace and Tatum White.

“Cinderella” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization, www.concordtheatricals.com.
