Asheboro Man Arrested After Knife Assault Injures Two

ASHEBORO — An Asheboro man is facing felony charges after authorities say he assaulted two people with a kitchen knife during an early morning incident earlier this week.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and dispatch records, deputies responded shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 11 to a home on Meadowbrook Road in Asheboro. Callers reported a man armed with knives inside and said a woman had been stabbed. Callers also reported two children were inside the residence.

Deputies from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) and officers from the Asheboro Police Department responded to the scene. When the first deputy arrived, they reported two injured adults outside the home and a man in the doorway holding a knife.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies gave repeated commands for the man to drop the weapon. The suspect refused for several minutes, but later complied and was taken into custody without further incident.

Emergency medical personnel treated both injured individuals before transporting them to a local hospital. Reports say that one victim had a deep laceration to the arm, while the other sustained a stab wound to the chest. Both were reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Dennis Farrell Siler II, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was taken to the Randolph County Detention Center, where a magistrate set bond at $10,000 secured. Siler made his first appearance later that same day on Aug. 11 in Randolph County District Court. He posted bond through a bond company and was released, but was ordered to remain 1,000 feet from the victims. He is set to appear in court again on Aug. 27.
