Asheboro Police Arrest Three in Connection to 64-Skillz Robbery, Homicide

ASHEBORO, N.C. — Asheboro police have announced three men have been charged in connection with a 2024, armed robbery and fatal shooting at 64-Skillz.

On Nov. 11, 2024, the Asheboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) began their investigation into the shooting death of 39-year-old David Matthew Davis, a Navy veteran and employee of the business, during an armed robbery of 64 Skillz, located at 1520 E. Dixie Drive.

Less than two weeks after the robbery and homicide, the department released surveillance photos of three suspects and a vehicle with a request to the public for help identifying the suspects, seen in footage masked and wearing gloves.

Today, six months after Davis’ death, police have charged three individuals, two of whom are charged with first-degree murder.

Victor Earl Austin Jr., 34, and Emilio Francisco Alston, 34, are each charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, and two counts of felony breaking and entering. Austin was arrested in Greensboro with assistance from the Greensboro Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. Alston was taken into custody in Ramseur with help from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office. Both are being held in the Randolph County Jail without bond.

The third suspect, Tiree Sintell Rone, 39, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He remains in custody at the Chatham County Jail on unrelated charges. Bond information for Rone was not immediately available.

The Asheboro Police Department said the arrests followed a months-long investigation by its Criminal Investigations Division, with assistance from multiple agencies including the SBI, Chatham County and Randolph County sheriff’s offices, Pittsboro Police Department, and Greensboro Police Department VCAT.
