Asheboro Police disrupt major drug operation, arrest one

ASHEBORO — The Asheboro Police Department announced the disruption of a major illegal drug supply following a search warrant that led to the arrest of one individual and the seizure of drugs, guns, cash, and untaxed liquor.

 

On Jan. 17, the Asheboro Police Department’s Street Crimes and Vice/Narcotics Units, with assistance from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and the NC Vice/Narcotics Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on N. McCrary Street in Asheboro.

Police say they seized:

- 327.1 grams (3/4 lb) of Cocaine
- 73.3 grams of MDMA
- 15,780 grams (34.8 lbs) of Marijuana
- 10.6 grams (209 tablets) of LSD
- 16.8 grams (109 tablets) of Oxycodone
- 10.5 grams of Psilocybin
- 19.5 grams (130 tablets) of Clonazepam
- 1.2 grams (3 tablets) of Morphine
- 1.1 grams (2 tablets) of Diazepam

Officers also confiscated 22 firearms, ammunition, cash, and untaxed liquor.

 

Joshua Adeen Montazeri, 43, of Asheboro, was arrested at the residence. He faces multiple charges, including trafficking cocaine, MDMA (Ecstasy), marijuana, Schedule I controlled substances, and opium. Additional charges include possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled substances, felony possession of Schedule IV controlled substances, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and other drug-related offenses.

Montazeri was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Court records show he has a prior felony conviction from 2011 for attempted trafficking of a Schedule I controlled substance, for which he received a suspended sentence and 24 months of probation.

 

Montazeri posted a $100,000 bond on Monday and was released. He is scheduled to appear in court again on March 25.
