RANDLEMAN, N.C. (ACME NEWS) — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run that took place Wednesday morning on U.S. 311 near Brookwood Acres Drive in Randolph County.
According to investigators, the collision occurred at approximately 7:43 a.m. on Oct. 30, when Samuel Hubern Lilly, 44, of Randleman, N.C., was walking north in the southbound lane of U.S. 311. A northbound vehicle reportedly crossed the centerline and struck Lilly, who died at the scene.
Authorities are seeking a silver or light gray Toyota Tacoma, model year 2005-2011, believed to be connected to the incident. The truck is expected to have visible damage on the front passenger-side fender.
The State Highway Patrol has released an example image of a similar Toyota Tacoma model to illustrate the likely areas of damage on the suspect vehicle.
