ASHEBORO — The local Democratic Party held its own rally before former President Donald Trump’s visit to the NC Aviation Museum west of Asheboro to offer counter programming.
Several speakers briefly spoke at the Democratic headquarters I Downtown Asheboro, including Asheboro City Council member Bill McCaskill, Randolph County Democratic Party Chair Diane Hubbard, local parent Todd Dulaney and UNC Young Democrats President Sloan Duvall.
“Donald Trump’s presidency was devastating for Asheboro’s economy: our neighbors lost small businesses, farmers struggled, and thousands of manufacturing jobs were lost across North Carolina,” McCaskill said.
“In a second term, Trump will go even further by imposing raising taxes and killing the good-paying jobs that the Biden-Harris administration has created, and slashing funding for our rural hospitals with his Project 2025 agenda. The only way we can ensure an economy that works for our community is by supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in November.”
Said Dulaney, “Trump’s agenda would leave me with a $3,900 tax hike, and would make shopping for groceries and household items more expensive, meaning that my family gets less, and the billionaires funding Trump’s campaign get more. I’m voting for my daughter, I’m voting for my community, and I’m voting with my wallet."
