ASHEBORO — A local man was arrested on Nov. 14 following a bank robbery at First Bank in Asheboro that same day.
According to the Asheboro Police Department, patrol officers responded to First Bank, 335 South Fayetteville St., in reference to a note that was passed demanding money.
A white male exited the business on foot, after obtaining an unknown amount of currency, and fled toward the Asheboro Summit Apartments next door at 156 East Academy St., Asheboro.
The male was observed by witnesses entering the rear entrance of the Summit Apartments and taking the elevator up from the ground floor. He was located hiding in the shower of room 503 and taken into custody without incident.
Clothing worn during the commission of the robbery was located inside the apartment.
Christoper Lee Tuttle of Asheboro was charged with the following:
— Robbery with a dangerous weapon.
— Second degree kidnapping.
He was placed in the Randolph County Jail without bond.
The Greensboro Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation assisted with the investigation.
