ASHEBORO N.C. — A vehicle crash near the Asheboro Regional Airport on Sunday left one man dead and another injured, according to Asheboro police.
On Sunday Nov 17, Officers with the Asheboro Police Department were called to the scene of a crash involving a white 1996 Toyota T-100 truck that overturned in a field near an address on Tot Hill Farm Road.
According to a press release from the department, the truck reportedly accessed airport property via Tot Hill Farm Road, drove around the perimeter fence, and into a large field southeast of the airport.
Kyle David Dixon, 32, of Lexington, and a 46-year-old man were riding in the truck’s open bed when it rolled over due to what police say was alleged reckless driving by the 35-year-old driver, who was not injured. Dixon sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a medical facility, where he died the following day, Nov. 18, police confirmed. The other passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The Asheboro Police Department’s Traffic Unit is investigating the incident, with plans to consult with the District Attorney’s Office on potential charges.
