Primary election races for mayors, councils, commissioners set

ASHEBORO — The two-week filing period for November’s off-year elections ended on Friday, July 18, and resulted in a heavy turnout ... of candidates.

For Asheboro City Council, 14 candidates emerged as did four candidates for mayor. Those high numbers triggered a primary to be held in both races on Oct. 7. The Municipal General Election will follow a month later on Nov. 4.
