Seagrove Parents Indicted for First-Degree Murder in Death of 5-Year-Old Daughter

SEAGROVE, N.C. — A Randolph County grand jury has indicted two parents on charges of felony first-degree murder in connection with the 2023 death of their 5-year-old daughter.

Billy Gene Myers Jr. was served with his indictment on Nov. 21, 2024, while Christina Ashley Myers was served the following day, Nov. 22. Both are being held without bond. The indictments, issued during the grand jury’s November 2024 session, were the result of an investigation by the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.

On July 24, 2023, deputies responded to a welfare check at a residence on Needhams Trail in Seagrove. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of the couple’s 5-year-old daughter. Detectives initiated an investigation and gathered evidence that led to the arrests of Christina and Billy Myers. Both were charged with felony child abuse and were held on $250,000 secured bonds following their first court appearances on July 25, 2023.

Following more than a year of investigation, the grand jury issued True Bills of Indictment against the parents. Sheriff’s Office officials have not released additional details about what led to the upgraded charges of first-degree murder.
