James Curtis ‘J.C.’ Loflin, Jr.

RAMSEUR — James Curtis “J.C.” Loflin, Jr., 74, of Ramseur, passed away in his sleep at home, Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Ramseur, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

Officiating will be Rev. Ed Carter of Maple Springs Community Church, Ramseur, and Rev. Charles Lindquist of Savannah UMC in Galax, VA. Both pastors are friends of the family. 

Burial will take place in Holly Spring Friends Meeting, Ramseur. 

J.C. was a native of Randolph County and a veteran of the U.S. Army and was very proud of his service during the Vietnam War era. He was a licensed contractor and worked with Brown & Fesmire as a carpenter. J.C. was the Carpentry Instructor at Eastern Randolph High School from January, 1996 until February, 2010. He was the bus driver coordinator at the high school and also drove buses when needed. 

J.C. was a volunteer fire fighter with the Coleridge-Erect Fire Department, serving as chief for several years. He was an EMT & EMTD during his service. J.C. also worked for a time at Teague’s Country Store. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Curtis and Bessie Nelson Loflin and his first wife, Nancy Carolyn Gates Loflin. 

Survivors include his wife, AnnaRae Hodgin, of the home; son, Donald Ray Loflin and wife Carol of Ramseur; step-children, Jon Gray of Ramseur, LeAnder Gray and wife Jennifer of Clayton, Rebecca Gray, Larry Gray and wife Martha, both of Asheboro; foster son, Kevin Lockhart of Franklinville; brother, Darrell Loflin of Siler City; grandchildren, Donald Ray Loflin, Jr., Carolyn Jeanette “C.J.” Loflin, James Allen Loflin, all of Ramseur; three great grandchildren, and one due in December; three special granddaughters, Elspeth Long of Raleigh, Carolyn Jeanette “C.J.” Loflin of Ramseur, Hannah Gray of Clayton; two step-granddaughters, Bobbie Clark and April Murray, both of Asheboro; five step-great granddaughters; one step great grandson; sister-in-laws, Susan Davis of Apex, Diane Nowak of Raleigh; two special former daughter-in-laws, Patricia Hughes of Randleman, Lisa Heckendorn of Antioch, CA; fur babies, Lily and Raggs. 

The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks especially to Sheriff Greg Seabolt and Sgt. James Brown of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department for their support and prayers, and Tucker Coward of Ramseur, Robert Stevens of Randleman and Keith Davi, of Ash-Rand Rescue, and also Duke Medical Center Cancer Center. 

The family will receive friends at the home of Jon Gray, 2363 Mill Creek Road, Ramseur, NC., from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022.
