Ann Freeman Yates

Ann Freeman Yates, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at Novant Health Medical Center in Bolivia following a very brief illness.

Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband Donnie Yates Sr.; one brother, Bruce Freeman; and one sister, Joyce Hargett.

Ann was a native of Richmond County, having been born to Harry and Collie Mae Freeman on June 13, 1935. In 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald A. Yates (Donnie), and they moved to Randolph County in 1954.

She raised three children and was very involved in local church activities. Most recently she attended New Salem United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and was a member of the women's group, UMW. Throughout her years, Ann was also employed at various locations, including a dental office in Liberty, Randolph County Health Department and Randolph County Social Services in Asheboro.

Ann was a talented lady in many ways; she sang beautifully, was "crafty" and could sew and knit lovely items for friends and family. She also loved to bake and could decorate cakes for any occasion. Ann also loved to garden and enjoyed working in the yard with her flowers and plants. But most of all, Ann loved spending time with her family and doing things for them.

Ann is survived by her three children: Lynn (Joe) Myers of Asheboro, Denise Estes of New Jersey and Donald A. Yates Jr. ( Allen) (Evelyn) of Randleman. She is also survived by one brother, William Freeman of Burlington.
