ASHEBORO — Ann Swaney McLaughlin, aged 71, of Asheboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 26, at Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem.
Ann was born on Dec. 18, 1952, in Asheboro, the daughter of the late Charles Swaney and Mary King Swaney.
Ann worked for over 20 years as the receptionist at McRae Roofing. Before that, she was the Lifestyles Editor for The Courier-Tribune for many years. Many of her family members and co-workers remember her for her quiet and sweet demeanor and for being one of the kindest souls they knew.
Ann enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandsons, taking care of her cats, keeping up with current events, and shopping. Ann loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to gospel music and watching sermons online.
Ann is survived by her husband, Audie McLaughlin; her two daughters, Jennifer Baughman and Gina McLaughlin; two step-daughters, Tonya McLaughlin and Julie McLaughlin; grandsons, Nate Baughman and Kyler Kiser; step-grandchildren, Maeleigh Callicutt, Kasha Brock, and Malachi Brock.
A visitation to remember Ann will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service in Asheboro, NC.
