Betsy Burrows Yow Watson

Betsy Burrows Yow Watson, 54, of Grifton, NC, died Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

Betsy was born on March 22, 1968, in Asheboro, NC, to Cecil and Nancy Burrows Yow. 

Betsy graduated from Asheboro High School and studied at East Carolina University and earned her teacher’s degree. She was a retired teacher from the Pitt County School System in Greenville, having lived in the Greenville suburb of Winterville before a recent re-location to Grifton. 

Betsy loved her family and friends, concerts (especially those involving Chase Rice) and the beach. She had a passion for life and her role as a teacher. 

She attended Reimage Church in Winterville, NC.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Derek Watson.

She is survived by her son, Corey Watson of Grifton; grandson, Dax Watson of Grifton; sister, Leslie Louise Yow of Asheboro (Ray Criscoe); nephews, Dallas Criscoe of Asheboro, Connor Criscoe of Harrison, NJ; and stepson, Tony Watson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, with Rev. Edward Ramsey officiating.
