ASHEBORO — Beverly Caldwell Penkava, 84, of Asheboro died June 17, 2024, at her residence.
Born and raised in Savannah, Mrs. Penkava was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mattie Walton Caldwell.
After high school she went to work for Southern Bell Telephone Company. In the late 1960s, she was transferred to Atlanta, where she met and later married Ron Penkava. Upon retirement in 1987, they moved to St. Simons Island, Ga., where they stayed until March of 2022, when they relocated to Asheboro.
Beverly was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and loved cats.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Penkava was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Caldwell Adams.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Penkava of the home; brother, Andrew P. Caldwell (Georgianne) of Beaufort, SC; brothers-in-law, Dave Penkava of Asheboro, Larry Penkava (Ginny) of Asheboro, Francis Penkava (Pat) of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Jeanne Harp (Dan) of Washington; nieces and nephews, Lisa Nyman, Terri Graham, Eric Penkava, Alex Penkava, Angela Ball, Michelle Richeson, and Laura Frazier.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home.
