ASHEBORO — Bill Allen Kirby, age 68, of Asheboro, passed away on May 21, 2024, at home with his wife and children by his side after a short illness.
He was born July 22, 1955, in Washington County, Virginia. Bill graduated in 1974 from Alleghany County High School of Covington, VA.
Bill was a dedicated roofer for over 45 years and took pride in his integrity and honesty with customers. He spent his free time in his garden and yard, experimenting with growing a variety of plants and flowers. He loved watching and feeding the birds. Bill loved music, especially folk rock.
He was a man of few words but when he spoke, you listened. He had a very sneaky, witty sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Kirby; children, Dylan Kirby (Erica) of Black Mountain; Rita Osorio (Erwin) of Cullowhee (Ruthie, Maggie, Zac); Paige Spencer (Hank) of Fort Liberty (Abe, Jude, Henry, Theo); sister, Marianne Skelton; and nephew, Colton Shifflett of Dayton, VA; and other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Effie Lam; and sister, Cathy Walker.
Per his request, there will be no formal service. The family will have a small gathering at their home on June 1, 2024 from 2-5 p.m.
