Brenda Joyce Russell Colflesh, 61, of Winston-Salem went to her heavenly home on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022. Her husband of 34 years, Michael Colflesh, was by her side.
She was born in Ft. Knox, Kentucky, on Dec. 11, 1960, to Winfred and Helma Kress Russell. The family moved to Randleman, NC, in 1964 when her father retired from the U.S. Army.
Brenda was a proud member of Randleman High School, Class of ’79. Many of her classmates remained her closest friends throughout her life. She never missed a class reunion and was always the life of the party.
After graduation, Brenda obtained an MLT degree from Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC. She worked as a lab technician for 30 years with various companies, including LabCorp and Baptist Hospital.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband; her sisters, Annelie Rizos (Nick) of South Carolina, Barbara Clowdis (Blair) of Randleman; nephew, Bradley Sheppard; mother- and father-in-law, Trudy and George Colflesh; brother-in-law, Christopher Cole (Cheechwa Tan) of Colorado; nieces, Anna, Elise and Gabby Cole; nephew, Josiah Cole; numerous extended family.
A memorial service for Brenda will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Randleman First Wesleyan Church, 125 Tabernacle St., Randleman, with Rev. Stephen Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston-Salem for the excellent care and support they provided to Brenda during the last months of her life.
