ASHEBORO — Christine Brown Richardson, 88, of Asheboro passed away on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at GrayBrier Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Richardson was born in Lucama, NC, on Jan. 15, 1935, to Odell and Akline Bean Brown.
Christine was an accomplished seamstress who sewed for family and friends. She made a variety of clothing, including costumes for church plays and wedding attire. Her church family was dear to her, and she sang in the choir for many years. She loved crocheting, knitting, making jewelry and gardening, and teaching her children these skills.
Christine was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and was caregiver for her husband, Winfred, who passed away in 2019. Her cooking was loved by all with family favorites being homemade biscuits and persimmon pudding.
Christine and Winfred enjoyed family vacations to the beach and mountains. As empty nesters, they traveled to the Grand Canyon and Disneyland in California. In later years, they participated in many senior trips, forming lifelong friendships.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Winfred Richardson; son, Randy Richardson; granddaughter, Kelly Richardson; grandson, Tim Briles; and sister, Allene Hicks.
She is survived by her son, Tony Richardson (Connie) of Asheboro; daughters, Sharon R. Walker (Mickey) of Randleman and Beverly R. Allman (Jimmy) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Chris Richardson, Christopher Armstrong (Amanda), Amy Ramos (Rene), Michelle Hamlett (Tony), Jason Allman (Nathalie) and Justin Allman (Julie); great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Madison, Logan, Mason, Baylin, Madeline, Carissa, Nathan, Christopher, Sabrina, Hannah, Dylan, Eric, Olivia and Ezra; brother-in-law, Roger Richardson (Maxine); and sister-in-law, Yvonne Hurley Beane (Darrell).
Christine will lie in repose on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 1-5 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Center Cross Baptist Church, 1789 Center Cross Church Rd., Asheboro, with Pastor Nathan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the burial.
