Chuck Powers

ASHEBORO — Charles "Chuck" Henry Powers, Jr., 69, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025.

Chuck was born on June 23, 1955, to the late Charles “Charlie” H. Powers and Mary Elizabeth Rubin Powers in St. Albans, WV.  He graduated from St. Albans High School in 1973, where he served as his Senior Class President.

Chuck met the love of his life, Cindy, in 1978, in Huntington, WV, at Ted-N-Ed's Bowling Center.  They went on to have two children.

Chuck spent most of his life in the bowling business and in ministry. He loved the sport of bowling and worked to promote its growth (especially youth bowling). Chuck gave any free time of his to ministry. His love for the Lord was evident in his work through Randolph Christian Men, Prison Ministry and his church. Chuck dedicated his life to serving the Lord and loving people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Leo Ryder.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years; daughter, Brittany Powers Thompson and husband Brett; son, Chip Powers and wife, Lou; grandchildren, Ashelynn Moore, Brayton Kestner; sister, Diane Mitchell and husband Jim; and many nieces and nephews.

A Circle of Life Celebration will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at Rushwood Church in Asheboro with Pastor Edward Smith and Dr. Brent Tysinger officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church's fellowship hall.
