ASHEBORO — Gary Lynn Ward, 67, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Randolph Health Hospital, surrounded by close family members.
Earlier in life, he was a highly sought after carpenter, and stonemason, and was very talented. He was a native of Randolph County and lived most of his life here.
Gary was born on Sept. 17, 1958, and was the son of the late Gaither Odus Ward and Barbara Cox Ward. He is also preceded in death by his nephew Tyler White of Georgia.
Gary is survived by his sister, Debra Ward of Asheboro, and brother James “Mike” Ward and wife Charlene of Franklinville.
Gary is also survived by three children, son Chris Ward and wife Tina of Lucuma, daughter Heather Burke and husband Brent of Bear Creek, and son Cameron “Cam” Ward and wife Taylor of Bear Creek.
Gary was blessed with nine grandchildren: Four grandsons, Liam, Jayce, Jayden, and Noah, and five granddaughters, Nicole, Madelynn, Saylor, Emrie, and Harper.
He will be missed dearly by family, friends, and anyone that knew him.
