JAMES LOWDERMILK

ASHEBORO – James Lloyd Lowdermilk, 78, passed away peacefully on Oct. 7, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories.

Born in Randolph County, James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who touched many lives with his kindness and humor.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda Huneycutt Lowdermilk, and their loyal dog, Bucky. He was the proud father of Lisa Skelley and her husband, Jim Skelley; Anna Lowdermilk; and Shelia Bayler and her husband, Jeff Bayler. James adored his grandchildren: Seth Bayler, Devin McMahan and his wife, Ana McMahan; and Sara Wells and her husband, Kyle Wells. He felt privileged to have four great-grandchildren: Rosalie Wells, Hannah Wells, Camilla McMahan and Chloe McMahan. His family wouldn’t be complete without his granddogs: Thor, Josie and Cocoa.

James had a long and hardworking career, contributing his skills and dedication at Klopman Mills, Eveready Battery and Randolph County Public Schools.

In his leisure time, James enjoyed watching NASCAR races, Western movies and spending quality time with his buddy, Thor, tossing the ball and enjoying the simple joys of life. He also took great pride in keeping his truck spotless, appreciating a clean, detailed vehicle, and regularly washed and cleaned it with care.

James will be remembered for his straightforward approach to life and the fact that he never let his beer get warm.

Honoring James’ wishes, a private service for the family will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, 27603, in honor of James' memory.
