Jerrell Darwin ‘Jerry’ Collins

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerrell Darwin "Jerry" Collins, who departed this world peacefully at his residence on May 9, 2025. Born on July 12, 1950, in Athens, GA, Jerry lived a full and dynamic life, reaching the age of 74.

Jerry spent many years as a dedicated salesman in the motorcycle and marine industry, sharing his love for all things fast and thrilling with those he encountered. His passion for motorcycles and cars was not just a profession but a way of life that he embraced wholeheartedly. He found joy in every ride and every roar of an engine.

Beyond his career, Jerry was a connoisseur of good food and spirits. He relished dining experiences, from cooking at home to attending chef's tables at renowned restaurants. His love for travel took him across many landscapes, yet his heart always returned to the sports fields, especially to cheer on his beloved UGA football team.

A man devoted to his family, Jerry cherished time spent with loved ones above all else. He was a beloved member of the Porsche Club and enjoyed countless motorcycle rides with his dear friends Dolph, Bill, and Jere, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Jo Hurd Collins, and his parents, George D. and Wilda Bradley Collins. 

He leaves behind a loving family: sisters, Sandra Sorrells and her husband David, Cathy Tatum and her husband Kevin and their children Kitt, Collin, Carrie and Kayla; and his Aunt Harriett Coleman and her family. He is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews, as well as his close friend Shanice, and his neighbors, Mike and Sue, who will deeply miss his presence.

The family will announce a service of remembrance for Jerry at a later date, where his life will be celebrated by all those who knew and loved him.

Jerry's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the fond memories of a life well-lived and loved.
