James "Jimmy" Colon Way, Jr., 82, of Asheboro, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, with his family by his side.

The family will receive friends from 1:45-2:45 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at Ridge Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m. in Ridge Funeral Home Chapel with Bud Wawner officiating.

Jimmy was born on May 27, 1942, in Randolph County. He was the cherished only child of the late James Colon Way, Sr. and Lou Ida Phillips Way.

As a teenager, his first job was delivering groceries for Way Grocery, the family business.  In 1960, he graduated from Asheboro High School and then attended Wingate and High Point Colleges.

In 1965, he married the love of his life, Patricia Morton. They went on to have three children together.

During his life, he worked for Coble Dairy, Durham Life Insurance and Oliver Rubber Company.  After 20 years at Oliver, he took a chance on a sales career at Midstate Toyota. It was the right move because it turned out to be his favorite job of all.  He achieved the coveted Toyota Pros Award 10 times before retiring in 2005.

Jimmy lived a full and vibrant life filled with family, friends, laughter and love. A lifelong sports fan, he followed high school, collegiate and professional teams as well as golf and NASCAR.  He especially enjoyed watching and supporting all the children in the family play their chosen sports.
