ASHEBORO — John Charles Bunch Jr. (Johnny), 68, of Asheboro, died on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Nancy J. Bunch; son, Tommy Bunch of Greensboro; daughters, Kara Parrish (and husband, Matt) of Angier, NC, and Ashley Tysinger (and husband, Tyler) of Asheboro; grandson, Casey Baria; three brothers, Bobby Bunch, Ed Bunch and Bill Bunch; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Bunch and Claudine C. Bunch; sister, Ellen Bunch; and daughter, Katie Bunch.
A native of Randolph County, Johnny was born on Dec. 20, 1952, and was well loved by his community.
Throughout his life, he faithfully served in local church communities, often blessing congregations with his vocal and instrumental praises. Johnny could walk in any establishment in Asheboro and be greeted by a close friend. He set an example of generosity and loved his family deeply.
Johnny attended Asheboro City Schools, Randolph Community College and UNC-Greensboro. Johnny was employed by Klaussner Furniture for 28 years and served as a plant manager and a general manager. He also worked as a salesman at Wayne Thomas Chevrolet.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, with Rev. Lynda Ferguson, Senior Pastor, presiding, followed by the receiving of friends in the fellowship hall.
The family would ask that, in lieu of flowers, any memorials be dedicated to:
1) the Katie Bunch Servant Leader Scholarship at 1126 South Park Street, Asheboro, N.C. 27203, checks payable to Asheboro City Schools Education Foundation, memo: Katie Bunch, or
2) Keaton’s Place, 120 Worth St., Asheboro, N.C. 27203, memo: Johnny Bunch.
