Martin George Danco

Martin George Danco, a beloved husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, at the age of 75. 

He was born on August 6, 1949, in Westfield, New Jersey, to the late Martin and Mary Toto Danco.

Martin graduated from Westfield High School in 1967 and went on to earn his degree from Athens State College in 1971. In 1972, he moved to Asheboro, North Carolina, where he played an instrumental role in opening the new Plastics Color Chip Plant. Later in his career, he joined Verity Recycling in 2010, where his dedication and work ethic were highly respected.

A man of many passions, Marty loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time on the golf course and pitching horseshoes. 

He was a devoted fan of the NY Giants and the Boston Red Sox. Marty was also an avid woodworker, crafting beautiful pieces that adorned the homes of many family members and friends.

Marty was a generous soul who gave money, time and assistance to anyone in need. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, embodying a spirit of kindness and generosity that touched all who knew him.

He is survived by his cherished wife, Teresa Hinshaw Danco of the home; his daughter, Hilary Contino and her husband Jeff and son Logan of Kansas City; his stepson, Barkley Hendrix and his wife Melissa of Asheboro; and his mother-in-law, Peggy Hinshaw of Asheboro. Also mourning his loss are his brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Larry Hinshaw of Banner Elk; his sister, Patricia Lindberg of Las Vegas; his niece, Heather Clyne and her husband Owen of England, along with their daughter, his great-niece, Zelia Clyne, and his nephew, Jake Hinshaw and wife Bailey of Asheville. His faithful companion, Tucker the Dachshund, and numerous loving friends also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marty and Mary Toto Danco.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Midstate Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Martin's memory to the SPCA, Bethel Colony of Mercy, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Marty Danco's enduring legacy of love and generosity lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
