BISCOE — Mary Lou Finch Anderson, 84, of Biscoe, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025.
Born on Nov. 19, 1941, in Chesterfield, South Carolina, Mary was the daughter of Floyd and Lawton Elizabeth Skipper Finch. She devoted many years of her life to her career as a journalist, largely with The Courier-Tribune and the Montgomery Herald.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold “Gene” Anderson and daughter Brandy Odom.
She is survived by her sons, Lewis Perkins (Dragana) of Sunrise, FL, and Donald Perkins (Teri) of Wadesboro, NC; grandchildren, Amanda Shea, Kate McClain, Ruby Perkins, J and Oliver Perkins; and great-grandchildren, Danny, Gabe, Emily, Zack, Alex, Alec, llene, Angela, Jackie, Laura, Alice, and Gio.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Star United Methodist Church with Rev. Haley Capps officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service from 1-1:50 p.m. in the sanctuary. Refreshments will be served following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the MCC Foundation Gene Anderson Gunsmithing Endowed Scholarship Fund at 1011 Page St., Troy, NC 27371.
