FRANKLINVILLE — Mary Davis Nance, age 92, of Franklinville, NC, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro.
A celebration of her life was held on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at Clear View Baptist Church in Franklinville, NC.
Mary was born Sept. 10, 1931, in the Grays Chapel Community, the daughter of the late Lone J. Davis, Sr. and Alta Nixon Davis.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ervin J. Nance; brothers, James, John, Willie Lee and Ralph Davis; and sister, Lucille Hilliard.
Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Cindy Lowe and husband Sherrill of Asheboro; son, Jon Nance of Franklinville; grandson, Adam Lowe; granddaughter, Meridith Lokey and husband Brandon; granddaughter, Jonna Adams and husband Stephen; great-grandchildren, Holley Lowe, Peyton Lokey, Sarah Adams and Lainey Adams; sister-in-law, Margaret Davis; brother-in-law, Clinton "Click" Nance, Dean Nance, Hurley Nance and wife Frances; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary received her High School diploma from Grays Chapel School and was awarded the Home Economics Award from her senior class. She went to work at Acme McCrary Corp. at the age of 19 and retired after 46 years of service to the company.
Mary was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and immaculate housekeeper. She will be remembered for her faithfulness in completing any task she undertook.
Mary was married for 46 years to the love of her life, Ervin. Together they were devoted to serving the community of the Antioch Christian Church until his unexpected death in 1997.
In later years, Mary became a faithful member of Clear View Baptist Church in Franklinville.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt "thank you" to the caretakers at Clapp's for the care given to Mary. A special "thanks" to Tricia Gilmore for her faithful support and help, as well as her roommate, Penny Garner, for her devoted companionship during the past year.
