HIGH POINT — Nancy Faye Wallace Hunter, 86, formerly of Asheboro, NC, died Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Brookdale High Point North in High Point.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Dr. Rob Roberts officiating. The burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Chappell Family Cemetery, Ellerbe, NC.
Born in Moore County, NC, on Nov. 4, 1938, Nancy was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ola Chappell Wallace.
She retired from Randolph Hospital as the Director of Volunteer Services and later worked at Ridge Funeral Home as a greeter. She was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church and was a Cub Scout leader in her early years.
Nancy was committed to serving the community as a member of the Asheboro City Council for 20 years, and the Asheboro Housing Authority for many years. As a member of Woodmen of the World, Nancy received many awards for her civic activities.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hunter; son, Mike Hunter; granddaughter, Miranda Hunter; and brother, Jerry Wallace.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Johnson and husband Alan of High Point; daughter-in-law, Ruby Hunter of Asheboro; brother, James "Jim" Wallace (Linda) of Boston MA; grandchildren, Rhett Johnson (Sarah) of Asheville, NC, Tyler Hunter and (Rachel) of Charlotte, Anne Johnson O'Hare (Jack) of Frankfurt, Germany, Glen Johnson (Kelsey) Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Eden Hunter, Levi Hunter and Cole Vernon.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. on Friday at Ridge Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
