DENTON — Patricia Elaine Hogan Hurley, 76, of New Hope Road, Denton, NC, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Elder Wayne Gravely presiding. Interment will follow at Flat Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with honors by the Randolph County Fireman Honor Guard.
Patricia was born on Jan. 17, 1948, in Davidson County to Treece Ray Hogan and Elsie Sills Hogan. She graduated from Farmer High School, Randolph Community College and the University of North Carolina Greensboro. After graduating, she went to work for Randolph County Schools where she was a teacher at Farmer Elementary School for 38 years.
She was a charter member of Liberty Fellowship Church and a charter member of New Hope Volunteer Fire Department for 50 years where she also had a long service as President of the board. Being very active in the community, Patricia was also the former community Girl Scout leader, and she volunteered with Hospice.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Ronnie Hogan and Gene Hogan; and sisters-in-law, LaTrivia Hogan and Linda Hogan.
She is survived by her husband, Wiley Hurley of the home; daughter, DeAnna Hurley-Chamberlain and son-in-love Don Chamberlain; grandson, Hurley Chamberlain; brothers, Leslie Hogan (Louise), Terry Hogan (Donna), Mark Hogan (Amy), Phil Hogan, and Brian Hogan (Angie); sister, Ann Gravely (Wayne); sisters-in-law, Jean Hogan, Olga Hogan, Rebecca Hurley, and Rozine Davis; and by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
