Peggy Purvis Joyce

ASHEBORO — Peggy Alice Purvis Joyce, 80, of Asheboro, NC, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022, at High Point Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro, with Rev. David Millikan officiating.  Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.

A native of Randolph County, Mrs. Joyce was born Dec. 15, 1941, the daughter of the late Haywood and Susan Phillips Purvis. Peggy had a master's degree in nursing and had worked in administration at Chatham Hospital, 37 years at Randolph Health, and retired as a charge nurse at Moses Cone Behavioral Health.

She was a longtime fan of American Legion Baseball, loved to read and doing crossword puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joyce; siblings, Donald Purvis, Robert "Butch" Garren Jr., Margaret Angeline Calvacante, Agnes Marie Purvis Thompson, Betty Sue Purvis Garren, Grover Haywood Purvis; and daughter-in-law, Connie Presnell Joyce.

Survivors include her sons, Timothy Joyce of Ramseur, Tony Joyce and wife Kimberly of Asheboro, Thomas Joyce and wife Crystal of Asheboro; grandchildren, Amy Yeager and husband Cory, Andrew Joyce and wife April, Alice Renee Parsons and husband Dustin, Emma Johnson and husband Lee, Brett Joyce and wife Janelle, Emily Hill and husband Arron, Alex Joyce, Eric Joyce, Ashley Joyce, Alexis Wirt and husband Ben, Sarah Bennett and husband Tony, Chloe Wirt; great grandchildren, Chloe, Sadie, Lily, Abigail, Audree, Alice, Eric, Cayden, Rylan, MyKenzee, Lilly, Violet and Jayce.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at Ridge Funeral Home.
